Just the Facts
I specialize in fused glass buttons for the discerning wearable artist. Offering one-of-a-kind buttons, a line of re-orderable classically elegant buttons, and occasionally custom designed buttons. Purchase through my shop on Etsy at SeaAirArts. Or e-mail me for more information.
I use local materials made in the United States as much as possible. A native of Seattle, I have lived in several states (from Alaska to Virginia, currently in Michigan) so, local to me is the whole country! I use glass made in Oregon (Bullseye and Uroboros), West Virgina (Wissmach), and Michigan (Royal). I use professional kilns with programmable firing modules to control the fusing and annealing process, thus eliminating human error (and the urge to "rush" it). All my buttons, and glass items made in the torch, are also annealed properly in these same kilns. The vital step of annealing insures that even though these items are made of glass, they are reasonably durable and should last for years of use. That said, they are glass. A sudden shock or striking them sharply on a hard surface in just the right place will probably result in a break.
